If Christmas is very busy in your house, then it can be hard to find time to pray.
Or if it's very quiet, you may feel sad or lonely.
Or maybe you just want to pray while you are "putting Christmas away" or cleaning up after everyone has gone home.
For this prayer, don't light a candle. Just look at one that was lit, but is not lit now.
Dear God
Thank you for (something that was good over Christmas).
Please look after .... (any bad thing that happened at Christmas).
Bless these things I am putting away today. Help us to keep them safe. Help us know your love when we get them out next year.
Bless the people who saw this candle and God's light. Keep them safe this year. Help us to be here to light the candle again next year.
Amen.
It may be hard to find something to say "thank you" for. But there is
always something:
- Maybe someone when to heaven after being sick for a long time
- Maybe a nurse was kind to someone who was sad.
- Maybe people didn't fight too badly.
- Maybe you got to the end of Christmas Day and are still talking to your family
- Maybe there was five minutes of sunshine in the day.
